Aluzinc

The material we use is a Malaysian product and not from China. It is currently made from aluzinc steel consisting of a 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc and 1.5% silicone coating. It's a 0.5mm thick material, and once made up the complete panel thickness measures 50mm. Our doors are reinforced with galvanized steel stiffeners for superior strength, which other companies don't do. Our material comes in four colours namely white, charcoal, bronze and brown and two profiles, horizontal and RFP (block design). There are several manufacturers of these doors. The difference in costs between manufacturers is due to the quality of the base material, powder coating and sheet steel, the thickness of the material, and type of construction components.

Aluminuim

Made from extruded aluminuim slats cut to the size and sectional assembled into section aluminuim end caps and intermediates. These aluminium garage doors are typically only assembled into sectional doors. There are a number of importers/manufacturers so the cost difference between products is due to the thickness of material that is issued. The thicker the material the higher the cost. There is also an option for aluminuim slat height which will also affect the cost of the garage door.

Meranti (medium - hardwood)

These wooden garage doors are typically made from meranti. Custom garage doors can be manufactured from other wood, like saligna, balau and gum etc. The meranti is the most common timber as it is the most stable, and if treated correctly from the date of manufacture it will outlast most of the other wood types mentioned. Meranti and all other timber doors require periodic treatment to last. However, the cost of wooden garage doors is probably the highest when compared to other materials used to manufacture garage doors.

Fiber Glass

Fiber glass garage doors are high in cost, brittle and light, but are non-corrosive. Tip up garage doors offer very little security. They are easily damaged due to the flexibility of the material. Door components are easily pulled apart due to the material being brittle, imbalanced door springs and high winds.

The garage door installers’ association in America has a prescribed way in which garage doors should be manufactured and installed. This includes a requirement that the associated door components must be securely and safely assembled and installed, thereby ensuring the safe use of the garage doors. Emitting or changing these types of door components could lead to premature garage door failure. This could also impact the life span of the door operator and/or door components, or render the garage door unsafe for use.
